Happiness and religion linked toward a relaxed life
Accepting the notion that true happiness does not come from this world is a reality that spells the difference of spending a better life than those who simply depend on what the earthly possession brings.

If you believe in the existence of a Supreme Being, a research suggests you will live a more contended life. I agree to this discovery because we will no longer aspire for material riches alone since true happiness can not be seen at them.

At the same time, it would be easier to cope with life struggles as religious individuals depend to a Higher Being who will suppport and guide the weakening souls of the believers. Frustration, anger, grief and sorrow become too lightly to handle for people who believe in God. This has been shown in a study presented at the Royal Economic Society conference.

According to the study, Europeans who believe in God experience a higher level of life satisfaction compared to those who merely depended on themselves. By yourself, you are always burdened of thinking ways to survive the challenges of life. Unlike if you lay down your worries and anxieties to someone whom you feel is the greatest in the universe, all fears become too easy to solve.

For researcher Professor Andrew Clark of the Paris School of Economics, other factors of religious upbringing that may not necessarily be dependent on belief may promote future happiness. There is a sense of satisfaction to every blessing and a gratitude of thanksgiving for the little good things being achieved every day.

People who believe in God, especially among Christians and Protestants, have a longer tenacity of handling pressures. They never give up to disappointments and continue life even at risk with grace and poise.

On issues of unemployment, according to Dr. Orsolya Lelkes from the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research, religion serves a “buffer” to protect people from sudden shifts of attitudes resulting in manic depressions and disappointments.

In terms of psychological dangers due to extreme cases from losing something, believers are able to contain bad events in their lives and are more strengthened to continue life despite problems attacking in their daily living.

Truly, the behavior that Christians showcase in their life is a type of lifestyle that we need nowadays. With so much stress at work, in school and in almost every activity that we do, believing in a Supreme Being is what we need. After all, we live not only to eat and do all the things that we think of. But we exist because we have a purpose in life. It can only be achieved when we believe that someone is the greatest being in our midst who created us for a special reason and purpose.

Excellent write up but will afford a field day to atheists. Now they will see God as a sort of mental drug...something to believe in to have peace. This is exactly what the last Pope objected to in his Crossing the Threshold of Hope. But you have done a valuable work here by bringing in God in this blog...thanx.

It reminds of that very famous saying, atheism is a non-prophet organization! Lol. I am guessing that after this write up people wil start to realize the ’profit’ that comes with having faith. Its not so much about looking for god as in my opinion it is about having faith in something. It is culmination of contentment and inner peace that comes with letting go of fear and just simply putting your troubles in the to-do list of god or someone you have faith in.

I can’t believe that people still look for vague concepts like contentment and happiness. Why does one need to be happy at all times. Aren’t other mental states, viz. sadness, fear , anxiety and son on, just as important. Despite the findings of the research to the contrary, I believe we don’t need no god to make us happy. Religion as a buffer against adverse situations and yet rational people might seek solace in a careful analysis of the circumstances. It is all subjective. Life-long happiness is as elusive and indescribable term as I’ve ever heard. You can’t possibly contend that not believing in some religion will make one’s life miserable coz that would be just a bunch of crap.

God as a mental drug - God-junkies ?

I think spirituality is much more important than the ways in which one may find their way to it. Religion = a bureaucratisation of spiritual life = an impossibility. Some people require significant levels of guidance, though - and it must be admitted as valid in some circumstances but when people mistake the message for the meaning they are well on the way to earthly confusion and
spiritual disorientation.

Spirituality, in my mind and experience, can never be limited by structure - the infinite is beyond all definition and limitation. It is a measure of humanity’s arrogance the degree to which we define the principles of a metaphysical realm. I am fascinated by the fact that the Buddha never answered the question of the existence of God. I see this not as some cosmic irreverence but as a realisation of the comic irrelevance of the question from within a Buddhist framework of understanding. If I were to self-identify with any religious tradition it would have to be Buddhism.

Religion can be a part of a healthy community, granted - but it can just as easily be part (and cause) of a very unhealthy community.

Christian teleology is a self-fulfilling definition of purpose. It is a mortal being attempting to proscribe Divine intentions and goals. Too often, and when we allow people to speak in this way ”for God”, they simply use the concept of religion and Divinity to achieve very base, very Earthly and limited (and ultimately selfish) ends.

Religion : Caveat Emptor !
